And so, the backpacking part of our trip has ended and as we had no time to travel Central America, we decided it would be a good enough substitute to spend a week in Montego Bay, Jamaica. When we first planned our trip we vowed that we would spend the last 10 days or so just chilling and taking it all in on the beach somewhere, so when my brother, Craig, mentioned we should meet him in Jamaica we jumped at it! ... what I expected. Expansive pools with the water park/slides on the side. A larger RedLane Spa than Sandals Negril (nice, very nice). 9 treatment rooms + a couples massage room. They also offer a very nice 2nd floor waiting room for couples.

The property currently is awaiting a new GM so I didn't get to meet one.

... room. Very nice with a walk out patio to the beach. I recommend this accommodation over the Premium category.

The size was the same, but location…location…location and it had a balcony/patio to walk out on, somewhat smaller bathroom but ample space.



I checked in to a River Swim-up Suite today. WOW! Amazing accommodations with Butler service as well. Just a nice treat and ...

Dinner last night was delicious. We were sat out on the terrace (great view of the place) and it started to rain (properly rain) half way through our starters. The waiters - who appeared fairly used to this - quickly ushered us all inside, brought our tables in, and carried on as if nothing had happened. It was quite funny. The rain didn't last long, but an electrical storm lasted long into the night. We sat up for some time watching ...

I spent almost a week in Negril, a long stretch of beaches along the western tip of Jamaica. Very popular with tourists. I walked the beach several times and I've been annoyed by the "farmers" and the like on a regular basis. They are sometimes aggressive. Better to walk along the road than the beach at night to/from the restaurant for obvious reasons. Nice sunsets.

... lots of fresh fish and there is always something vegetarian. Our menu offers selections that the whole family will enjoy. At Canoe you can choose to eat inside in the lounge area, or outside on our private deck, right on the beach. Coffee and fruit delivered to the room again this morning. We were going to be busy in the afternoon with the Catamaran ride. On our way down the beach to eat breakfast, I noticed they were doing a swim suit photography shoot on the beach. Unfortunately I think it was for JC Penny's and not Sports Illustrated. Today is Monday December 12th, and I'm finished keeping classes (holding class) this Thursday! The Centre where I work will be closed from the 19th to the 2nd, but since my parents will be in Jamaica the first week of the New Year I really get three weeks off of work!
