Our stay in a Traditional Jamaican Cottage

We have traveled this year to Cancun (June 2009) and Puerto Plata (July) and were ready for another Caribbean vacation. I thought a return trip to Jamaica would be nice (we have had two previous trips to Jamaica ...

Jamaica, no problem!

... br>It was Ang's birthday as well which entailed sneaking around a little to organise some presents and treat her to some awesome parasailing! It also gave us a chance to hit the Mobay nightlife, which sadly was a bit dismal in the tourist off season! After warming up with far too many drinks for not much of a party, the night ended with us banging on the door and begging to be let in to Burger King before finally giving up and hitting KFC...
<br ...

Nice beaches but the "farmer" is so annoying

I spent almost a week in Negril, a long stretch of beaches along the western tip of Jamaica. Very popular with tourists. I walked the beach several times and I've been annoyed by the "farmers" and the like on a regular basis. They are sometimes aggressive. Better to walk along the road than the beach at night to/from the restaurant for obvious reasons. Nice sunsets.

Conclusion: How to really see Jamaica

... it so much fun, he seemed to have a hilarious personal story attached to everything on the island. Before we reached the hotel, he pulled over to make sure our first meal on the island was authentic: traditional Jamaican patty and a bottle of Red Stripe.

The rest of the trip was incredible: Rexy took us to a local reggae concert, a dance club where we watched a true local dance off, and, of course, the world famous Rick's where we watched the bird man dive ...

Romance in the Islands

... I thought they were using a vacuum cleaner for a prop at one point, but it turned out to be a small beach chair turned sideways to my view. The photographers are the prima donnas, they have people scurrying to get fresh cameras, adjust lighting, pose the model, touch up makeup, and other things I can not understand. It sounded like they are speaking German. We saw them again when we ...

The ballfield is build next to a gully (river/sewer); due to all of the excessive rain in the past few months the gully is teaming with 'life' (tadpoles, mutant fish, and dragonflies). The kids are obsessed with the water, and love finding old tires to throw into the gully. No matter how many times I yell at them they are drawn to the water ...
