    Gorgeous views, beautiful rooms, delightful welcoming treats, terrific breakfasts. Loved it. Didn't want to leave it. Can't wait to return.

    ... tourists. Almost as good entertainment as the Greek night the evening before.

    It proves to be a very restful and enjoyable day. The only down side is the packing that awaits us when we return to our rooms. How is it that you can buy nothing and yet you have great difficulty fitting all your belongings back into your suitcase. And everything is heavier than when you left home. Please explain.

Our guide first took us along the mountain formed by the crater to the Red Beach on the south end of the island, which gets its name from the red volcanic rock and sand in the area.     ... blah, very dry and dusty, almost no greenery at all although the ocean view as you climb is quite beautiful. Along the winding road to Thira, we see what seems like dozens of unfinished houses, just shells actually, abandoned and left as is due to the financial crash, and in a strange way while they were to be beautiful new homes, they resemble old relics from centuries ago.     After a very short sleep (because Sean wouldn't settle down or stop face timing people!), we woke up at 5:30 to catch the subway to Port Piraeus to catch our ferry to Santorini.
