      Gorgeous views, beautiful rooms, delightful welcoming treats, terrific breakfasts. Loved it. Didn't want to leave it. Can't wait to return.

      ... bus station. It was a no frills hostel with decent sized beds and well marked lockers allocated to each, large enough to put your whole back pack in. There was a washing machine that they allowed guests to use free of charge, all you had to do was BYO soap. We checked in, settled in to our room and chucked on two consecutive loads before heading out for a late lunch/early dinner.

      ... asked enough shopkeepers to find it. On the walk along the boardwalk (if I can call it that), people were lined up for sunset. I was quite excited as the view towards the Caldera was really nice. When we arrived at our restaurant, it was disappointing to realise that the direction of our view was out towards the open sea and not the Caldera. It had a direct view of the sunset but disappointingly, it was just sea and sun and not the magical composition ...

      ... in their best, followed by each village having a special celebration, usually involving lights and candles, and then at midnight, the restaurants re-open and everyone heads for their local one to eat of the special Easter soup which is only made and served on Easter Sunday and to drink wine, dance and party hard.  The service was really quite unusual and quite difficult to follow for us, because it was all in Greek.  However, even the Church service was a bit of a party, ...

      ... we had dinner at a super fancy restaurant, which was very very delicious and we had amazing views of the island. Day 3 Today we had a pretty low key morning. We stopped by this restaurant for breakfast/lunch called Flora. We had been there the past 2 evenings for ice cream and the owner was so kind so we knew we wanted to come back.       ... had a swim and had breakfast served to us on the beach. Then we went to the red beach, but me, Emma, Sarah and Trent (people on our tour) got off early and visited the ruins of Akrotiri which were pretty cool and showed part of a civilization that lived until the volcano of Santorini erupted.
