Due to a union rule, we must board small Greek boats instead of the usual HAL tenders. We are dropped off at a small port and then must choose a way to get up the 1000 foot cliff to the village of Fira, ...

... didn't really know, but were super kind and helpful in letting us use the phone and Internet. Turned out the place was tucked just off the road from where we were and the people from the hotel picked us up shortly after.

For some reason we got an upgrade and gained a kitchen and a balcony out of it! So we had the opportunity to cook our own meals for the week which significantly lowered the cost. It was nice to not have to find somewhere to eat ...
