    Oh no! Not another damn castle

    ... long before that. It was added to many times from the 15th century to the 18th. Sadly it was badly damaged in a fire in 1800 that apparently burned for 14 days. It was again restored into what we see today.



    Entry to the castle and St Martin's Chapel inside the walls costs €6 (but only €3.50 for the old git). ...

    The Penzion Pltnik is the starting point for the raft trips down the gorge. Raftsmen dressed in colourful jerkins and matching hats arrive early to get the craft shipshape.

    When we saw these craft drawn up on the slip last night we both thought they looked highly dangerous. However when you lash five of the long narrow hulls together it's a different story.

    ... we got to the cave. He warned us it would be very difficult and slippery so those who didn't think they could do it should stay back and wait. We all went. In order to get into the cave we had to climb up a ladder. Then there was a chain bolted to the cave walls that we could hold onto and pull ourselves up. I couldn't believe how hard it was because there weren't any foot holes and it was wet. When i got in there all I could think of was, **** I really wish I had ...

    ... was steeper and the the rocks were slippery. I was so glad to have my hiking sticks! Finally, after 2 more hours of hiking, we got to the bottom and a nice cold beer & salt replacement!! One thing we were really surprised to see how many nuns were hiking this trail in their habits!

    ... it was raining, we decided to just go to the dinner place early, have a drink, and chill out while some of the younger ones walked around the town. Dinner was interesting. Wild touristy place. Most had dumplings and beer sampler. Just as we were leaving, this wild hairy guy came in and we all had to have a photo with him. He wanted to kiss me and then gave me a copy of his book (in Polish). Well, that was enough excitement for one night. I headed back to go to bed. Big day ...
