We stayed two nights and had a wonderful stay. The Nayara suite had wooden floors, canopy beds, marble bathroom and secluded private garden with magnificent view of Volcan Arenal. Staff were great and the food delightful, especially the banana flambé courtesy of Juan Carlos, known to everyone as JC. He made our visit! Highly recommended.

Boy, was this luxurious! Our room was sort of hexagonol and absolutely vast with a wonderful balcony overlooking the volcano (unfortunately, it was shrouded in mist!) and with a hot tub. The restaurant was excellent, as was the food, and there are lots of places in the beautiful gardens to sit and relax. The resident, free-ranging parrots were very entertaining too!

I would definitely recommend staying here. the grounds are beautiful and well kept. our room was so luxurious with a hot tub on the balcony, two person shower indoors AND out doors, and a hammock to lay back and relax in. the people working here are really helpful as well. they took care of all our needs. they booked excursions, transportation, and spa services... anything we we wanted. they also have a few laptops set up in the lobby with internet which was also a great plus.

We arrived at Nayara Hotel- beautiful room with incredible indoor and outdoor showers! The outdoor shower was surrounded by stone walls and was huge.Flowers and birds everywhere with a view of the volcano right from our room. The sounds of the birds was incredible. We both recorded the morning birds with our iphones. It beat any nature CD that we …

... of the state and a dream catcher- which Ashley wants to wear in her hair! I am sooooo sad to be having to say goodbye in the morning- they are just the sweetest people! I'm nervous to meet my new family as I don't see how anyone could compare. I also found some hot sauce, I haven't tried it yet, but I hope it does the trick as I am really missing my spicy foods! That's one thing I would recommend to future students on this trip, bring your own cholula!!!! I am sooo ...

... we made pilgrimage to baptize ourselves in the Rio San Luis. We piled into a taxi with two other families which took us to the Monteverde town center, and from there we hiked DOWN to the Rio San Luis along this road. If you piled on 3 feet of snow on this road you would have had the best ski run in the Midwest and a decent run even in the Rockies. That is just how steep it is. The hike down into this breathtaking valley took about 1.5 hours until we took a left down this cow ...

... So the first part was via a minivan through the mountains all very much downhill, then we reached Lake Arenal where we boarded a Pontoon-type boat across the lake to then board another minivan into La Fortuna. The journey from hostel to hostel took about four hours, but the trip was beautiful having brilliant views across the lake of the volcano. We arrived in La Fortuna at about 1pm and settled into our hostel. We decided to ...

To treat myself on the way back I got a foot long 'el gringo' hot dog, with 2 sausages, mustard, gherkins & spicy salsa nom nom nom! Along with my empanada & dried papaya for breakie, my varied diet is working wonders lol!

Had a bit of a lie in this morning yahoooo, then off to the zip line centre, there are a few different ones in Monetverde but ...
