Saint George Naxos, Naxos, Cyclades, Greece, 84300, 30-22850-22928-

Today is a travel day. We left Tinos at 9:30 and took the dolphin to Paros, then changed to huge ferry for Naxos. This ferry carries trucks, has 8 floors, and is the only type of ferry to run in the winter or rough weather. We wandered down the water from to our cafe for lunch. By now we should know that there are going to be many dishes, but no, we kept eating the first dishes and then... there were more. We had sauteed greens (literally translated as grass) with lemon and olive oil; tender ...
Naxos, Cyclades, Greece nsadventuresYesterday we hiked Mt. Zas, the reputed birth and hiding place of the young Zeus. The weather was sunny and windy. We crammed into taxis and headed up the road past Filoti., olive trees, goats, and churches perched on hilltops. After climbing to 1800 ft., we arrived at the trail head by a chapel and started winding our way up hill. Most of the path was exposed, giving us fantastic views. We passed ancient signal towers used to signal if pirates were approaching, stone walls, and an stone chis...

... close to the marina that has music coming from it. I ate a lamb dish for dinner and since the Greeks eat dinner very late in the day and will frequently make an evening of it, it wasn't until close to 11 PM that we left the taverna.

I went back to the yacht to dress in my club clothes and to go to one of the few dance clubs that remained open over the winter. Although it wasn’t packed, the club was still a lot of fun and we had a great time.
Delos, Cyclades, Greece mylifesjourney... beautiful place with the village full of white-washed buildings scattered around a maze of little streets and alley ways. Just at it seemed that Santorini was made for couples, Mykonos was make for singles and the party life. This is one place that I want to return to again.
Mykonos, Cyclades, Greece mylifesjourney... and 35 and 40." It very well could be the vacation and the cruise-effect but I really do feel like I'm a little more zen about all things life and stress-related.

Plus I've decided 2012 is legit. Maybe not 2012 exactly, but for sure the idea that we are here and then we're gone. You can't not realize and appreciate that fact walking around all of these antiquities. You don't get to plan for the end, or for the demise of a 'people'. If you could, all these ...

Naxos, Cyclades, Greece malena.drelaTook the hydroplane from Santorini to Mykonos. Stayed right on the beach and the cruise ships docked right down the beach. Island topography not as dramatic as Santorini but very nice. Surprised how dry and little vegetation on both islands. Got my whole body in the Mediterranean not just my feet (no pictures of that !!)
Mykonos Town, Cyclades, Greece pathenger... later, Brittany also had to run out of reception to puke in the bushes.

Hung over? Please, we could not afford to buy enough alcohol to be that hungover. The bus to the port than picked us up, and as we were driving down the windy roads, Sarah looked over and noticed Lindsey had turned green. Sarah handed her a plastic bag, but luckily, Lindsey has a stomach of steel and only dry heaved a little bit.

Next time, we will read the instructions that read ...
Náxos, Greece kickthrough... manager of the property announced that he was putting us into the hotel's largest apartment--meant for 6 people--rather than the studio we had reserved. The apartment was larger than anywhere we had stayed in the past 5 years in Los Angeles. The patio overlooked the pool and the hill down to town and was constantly occupied by a pair of very vocal cats--especially after we fed them. The hotel manager told us it had not rained ...
Naxos, Cyclades, Greece sponger42... Naxos and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Greek islands. It is developed just enough to offer anything you could possibly want, but is still cheap and the people are very friendly. Naxos Town has a classic beach town feel to it and it is very relaxing walking around or sitting on an ocean side terrace sipping on a cold drink. The beaches are beautiful and the water clear and pristine. It was the perfect antidote to Athens and we left relaxed and ready for Santorini.
