      ... area. Thessaloniki is right in the heart of ancient Macedonia, the ancient stomping grounds of Alexander the Great and his family, and there are quite a few homages to him throughout the city - including the advertisement for the "Alexander the Great Rock Opera" that I saw today. Tomorrow and Wednesday I'll be at a couple of sites outside of the city before flying back to Istanbul on Thursday - and from now on, all flights will occur on separate days :).

      The beach towns are totally deserted. All the hotels and cafés are shut up and no-one is around.

      ... around Stella took us to a stunning viewpoint to watch the sunset with the silhouette of the windmills in the frame. After we got some pictures we had dinner at a restaurant just off the ocean, with the view of the colourful sky behind us. Don and I shared some Spag bog. Yummy, but nothing like our mothers!
