... village coffee house, also waiting to hear the drums and music, a sign that the parade is coming.
Soon it is a fact. We hear the drums and all drop what we are doing and get to the side of the narrow streets to watch the parade coming.

You can see that pople are moved to tears. As the drums and parade approach, the beat gets louder, and the moment the parade passes from each one of us, it is so special. I see my friends getting ...
Pano Lefkara, Larnaca, Cyprus greekcypriotHappy 6th Birthday to Zak. Caught the shuttle but into town which was a long way from the ship and it was quite hot, so we didn't walk. Had a look at an old Castle but couldn't take photos so decided not to go right inside. Walked up and down and around all the streets. Went down to the waterfront which had a huge park right along it on the other side of the road. No beach; it was all rocks but quite pretty and relaxing. We had lunch in a Greek cafe where the ...
Limassol, Cyprus stephgraeme... way you enter Cyprus is the way you must leave, otherwise the Republic of Cyprus will consider it illegal.

Talk about political hotbeds. We have just left one and entered another, tourist are just sometimes a porn in their games, when all we want is to just travel freely and see what a country has to offer.

Tomorrow we head to Northern Cyprus in search of sand, oh and an escape route.
Limassol, Cyprus dinoshona... hard to find a
church, although in retrospect we could have tried a bit harder. We
got into Limassol and once again struggled a bit trying to find the
hotel but we managed. We went out for a wander and lunch and then
had a leisurely afternoon by the pool. That night we discovered the
old castle and tried the meat mezze. It was a nice night and
Limassol proved to be a worthwhile stop in Cyprus.
Limassol, Cyprus lantian1979... church we had a quick nose through. By now it was 1.20pm so headed off back to the ship via our bus. The country side is covered in limestone and they have terrraced it to help stop errosion. Their vines are a combination of reds and whites some the gnarly variety so no strainers used the vines get a very thick central stem and spread along the ground. Income comes mainly from wine ...
Limassol, Cyprus hazdeb... we drove, saw a beautiful sunset, watched the petrol guage go down, so I was a little worried. Eventually, as we neared Troodos, the snow was up to our knees, ice on the road, but our little ******* kept going. Once over the top, it was all down hill to a tavern with a meze for dinner Day 3 It was a public holiday, so there was nobody on the road. Once parked, we walked the traditional way in, over the old Ledra Palace Road ...
Limassol, Cyprus uncle_davros... from me next week when the paper comes in. then Jayne and I would go so she can bring in her passport and do the final step in her visa. This was the second time I called on her cell phone. You'd think that she would call back to say something as she would see missed calls. Calling her office phone I was told that the number is wrong. This is poor service by Maria. Richard called to say that he might be going to New ...
Limassol, Cyprus richlion... number & we felt happy to drift around the buildings which, although very old, have been 'restored' to within an inch of their lives. It's all pristine & beautifully maintained. Despite being a real tourist spot it is still a working monestary & you do see the monks walking around. The church is spectacular filled with icons, gold & silver and heavy with the smoke of incense. After ...
Polis, Cyprus anneowens... There was also an old Byzantine fort which was now a museum. You are not allowed to take photos inside, and as there tourists around, the guard followed me everywhere. I couldn't even throw him off the roof as it was locked up. When I asked why, I was told that a granny had gone up there and jumped, so now it was closed !!! By the time I had finished just wandering around, I discovered that this place had ...
Limassol, Cyprus uncle_davros... of my childhood when with my parents and especially my dad who used to LOVE TRAVELING like me, would bring us to this village and even spend one or two nights at a certain restaurant for lunch or dinner.. The restaurant owner had one or two rooms to let, and my dad arranged each time we were up here, to spend the night in one, just to be next to the river and hear the ...
