      Hard tailin' it to Juodkrante

Woke up to a very bright morning. After enjoying having a private bathroom with a nice long shower, and scoffing the croissants I bought for breakfast (decidedly meh croissants), I headed out to rent a bike for the day. The Curonian Spit has a dedicated bike path that runs it's entire length in Lithuania (I'm only 3km from the border with the Russian province of Kaliningrad). I had read that you can hire a bike in Nida, ride it to the town of Juodkrante, drop ...

With a 7am cross-country bus to catch, I had set my alarm for 6am. Sadly I was woken by snoring at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep so I got up before the alarm went off. ... here in Klaipeda! This park is full of sculptures done from 1984 to 1986 by various artists, it was formerly a cemetery but was demolished by the Russians. It started to rain again so we had to leave and head back home. Quiet afternoon but we did a little shopping, stocking up for the bus ride to Vilnius ...

      Kretinga - Emmanuelis & family

AM - What, no walking today? No, it's raining hard at times accompanied by thunder and lightning, a bit scary actually. Today is a public holiday in Lithuania, it's the Feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Tomas rang Emmanuelis and had arranged for us to meet him and his family in Kretinga, so we drove off into alternating rain and sunshine. In Kretinga we firstly had a look through a plant museum in a huge glass ...
