We left Sydney on Sunday 17th February 2013 for Perth were we will taken off to Bangkok via Hong Kong. An overnight stay in Perth was pretty uneventful.

Arriving at the airport early this morning we encountered a slight problem! Qantas staff in Perth would not let us board the plane unless we had proof we were leaving Thailand ie a plane …

The Floating Markets

A travel blog entry by fadge1

Through the tour desk outside the front of our hotel, we arranged a tour to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Markets In Ratchabut Province. First we travelled by mini-van, then changed to a fantail boat for a tour of the canals, and then we changed to a paddle boat to go through the actual market. The majority of the people paddling the boats were …

We had breakfast at the hotel (tropical fruits and noodles for me) before heading out to reacquaint ourselves with the area. We headed off down Soi Rambuttri which is near Khao San Road - all in the backpacker area.

We decided to go downtown to get sim cards and a data package for our mobiles as the ubiquitous 7/11 had sold out of them. …

Gold Coast - Kuala Lumpur - Bangkok

We were up at 4.00 am after only 3 hours broken sleep – Dad was in hospital with a chest infection and Mum was readmitted last night with a high temperature. I was quite stressed, thinking WTF was I doing leaving the country. We left home at 4.45 a.m. for the Gold Coast but got in a bit of panic as we tried to find the long term car park. We …

Next before we jetset to London is Bangkok! Fom the futuristic airport we headed to our Hotel and then onto Sukhumvit Road. Here we took cover from the hot and muggy conditions outside. We have no money to shop or the room in our backpacks, but we managed to kill a couple of hours admiring what was on offer in foodcourts and supermarkets …

Love this hotel. Great position on the river, easy to access the ferries. Our room was very comfortable. Staff not very friendly on arrival but all other staff were great. Aquatini Restaurant has great food overlooking the river. This was the second time we have stayed at Navalai in 3 years and would definitely return.
