      11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

Free WiFi meant that we could chat with James as he was still up in the middle of ...

Thu 9th: Passed over the Greek/Albanian border to the 'resort' town of Sarande through pretty rough roads and mountain pass. After a slow start at the hotel, we went out to explore – the beach and the tourist port and town. We were amazed at how quiet our hotel and many of the others ...

... to Italian churches. We then drove to Achilleion Palace which has beautiful gardens and classical statues overlooking the coast. This was built by and Austrian empress in the late 1800s - and it really was very beautiful. During the war it was used as a hospital and later as an orphanage before it was restored for tourists to view. We drove through the main town and by this stage it was so wet we decided to return to the ship and warm up and have ...
