... they welcomed us into their spirit house. They performed the Hacka for us (even scarier than how it looks on TV) and they sang some traditional songs. We were able to explore the rest of the village after that and learnt that the village, Te Hana, was named after a girl that is a central part of their stories. It was amazing being able to see their culture so early on in my trip.

So as Kim said in my last blog, I found a home and another family. I live in a 4/5 bedroom house with about 6 other people. Sure it sounds like a tight squeeze but its not often we are all here at the same time. There are two kids that are not always here and if they are they are usually in bed. And it seems that at least one adult is away every evening.
