Given how beautiful the lakes are, it wouldn't be surprising if the ancient Lithuanians held some special significance to their waters. ... stage had bought a sarong, the subject of much humour thereafter.

As the guys had apple pie for dessert, I tried the mead. It did say 75% alcohol on the menu. It tasted like paint stripper though may be insulting paint stripper. I had thought the black balsam in Latvia tasted bad but it was like ambrosia compared to this stuff. The others were amused at my struggle to down it.

Out of the gates we headed for the former Jewish quarter and on to St Nicholas church.
