For the next 4 days we did almost the same routine: wake up at 6am; eat breakfast; go on a lemur, herpetology or tree walk; return and eat lunch; lecture or another walk; supper and yet another walk or lecture.

... forests, ruins from the French navy base (Madagascar got independence in 1960) and a German WW2 base dotted along the eastern coastline. Jack, Ella and I spent a few hours walking along the beaches with our guide - there are a few very low key hotels and windsurfing and kite surfing centres, as it's pretty windy and perfect for kitesurfing (apparently!).

Then we headed back to the hotel for lunch, via a supermarket where I did my usual checking ...

No such luck - a cacophony of noise assaulted us, with the unpleasant combination of the boom boom boom of the on site breakdance class, the 4 hour gospel service in the church across the road, and the various local mosques calling to prayer, so chilling by the pool was impossible. ... had made a mistake” added the only other English speaking passenger I could find - from Pakistan. Back on the plane, everyone was stripped down and desperate for water, when we re-boarded. ... France. He moved everything out including his 5,000 bottle collection of wine which was housed in several large wine chillers, lining the walls of the restaurant. He was upset I had finished drinking, but continued to crack bottles of Sauternes, Bordeaux, Rhone and Provence wines during my visit.
