Road of Joffreville Diego Suarez, Madagascar, 320-712306
Wednesday 14th June Antananarivo - Joffreville Our flight to Diego Suarez (oth**wise known as Antsiranana - ev**y town has a Malagasy and a French name, and you nev** know which is in common usage) leaves at 6.30am, and we're up before the alarm, at 4am, DP luxuriates in hot wat**, and finally gets to wash h** hair. Down to reception as quietly as reasonable with our own bags. Taxi is waiting, and away before 5, through dark, but not des**ted streets to find petrol in the classic style, so we...
Diego Suarez, Madagascar diannemurrayWe were up at what felt like crack of dawn again to get a flight up north to Diego Suarez about 09.00. The airport was absolute mayhem, lots of flights were going around the same time, the queues were intermingled and ignored, luggage being tripped over, you name it. However, we made it through and made it to Diego. Were met by our guide for the next few days, Christian, and also our driver and cook!! Talk about travelling in style. As we have such a short time in Madagascar, rather than tryi...
Diego Suarez, Madagascar wdsDer Ankarana Nationalpark beginnt gleich hinter unseren Hütten.
Mahamasina, Madagascar dodosigi... We are leaving in a few for the mountains for 2 nights of camping and hiking. then we continue along the northern coast in a few towns and wind up our last two days in Nosy Be before we head back to tana. I wish i could write more but its difficult... I love everyone and hope everyone is doing great! When i get a chance to write more i will. PS Obama is all the buzz here in africa so I know about that at least! elise
Diego Suarez, Madagascar annaelise... tours of the island. I start practicing my French with perfecting "non merci" and quickly realize that this phrase will be beaten over the head by the time this leg of the trip is done. I change money and feel like a millionaire with the huge wad of bills that I get in exchange for just 200 Euro. 522,750 ARIARS(????) seems like a lot but for some reason the stack didn't feel right. The lady was shocked to discover that I could count that ...
Antananarivo, Madagascar madman96... in Fort Dauphin (a regional capital in the south) full of sweat, determination, underdog upsets, and (most importantly) AIDs/STD health messages. Madagascar's AIDS rate is one of the lowest in Africa but is rising. STDs are rampant and condom use near non-existant. Peace Corps volunteers are working hard to educate local people on prevention and protection from spreading disease. This event will be an exciting and effective way to raise awareness and ...
Antananarivo, Madagascar ccharrill... able to make from the yarn sent by Mom and Dad.(and worn on Amy's head at one point). Look for details regarding this year's golf outing comming to an email inbox near you! There are several pictures also added of our cousin Mark's visit over Thanksgiving. What an incredible time that must have been! Lemurs and lizards and all! Much love, Brother J 630.209.4389
Antananarivo, Madagascar amyvanc... year....give or take. I really love the country and want to teach here a bit longer. I'm not sure if I will extend with the Peace Corps or possible work for the embassy or other US organization. I'm still putting the word out there and seeing what is available. So, if you have any ideas, let me know :) I hope to get more pics on here about the previous Girls Camp and of me teaching. I thought for SURE I'd have time when I was in the states, but I ended ...
Antananarivo, Madagascar amyvanc... when I home for a Christmas visit in December! I am still in Madagascar but will take a brief reprieve for a few weeks this holiday season. I believe the first few days will be spent attached to my mother, soaking her up for all its worth. As well as hugging and kissing my neice and nephew incessently and inevitably scaring the bejesus out of them when this strange lady won't stop touching them. I cannot wait. As well as see as many friends and extended ...
