... of the May Day celebrations and we think it is kind of a variation on a Maypole. We have seen them in many towns and cities in Austria.

The food is all organic and locally sourced. The dinner buffet offered a wide range of food including lamb, fish, salads, pasts, beef, and a range of desserts and cheese.

... few games... not very easy without the bumpers but I managed to knock a few pins down!

Oberpullendorf is situated on top of a large hill and down the (very steep) road was Unterpullendorf! There were a few nice restaurants but even on a Saturday night it was like a ghost town! We ate at a very nice restaurant called Schmeydes which served a range of food from Pizza to Duck!

Our next stop is Hartberg which is rumoured to be a very nice hotel! Looking forward to ...

Austria - Burgenland - Arkadenhof Pension

We left the Hungary, crossed the boarder and appeared to Austria's easternmost and least populous land - Burgenland. We staied in farm Arkadenhof Pension - very beautiful country side place, clean and green, with many facilities, very nice owners Flasch family.
We came for 3 days so it were very busy and full of attractions stay. ...

The western part of Hungary is as far to the west we will be coming on this tour.
Before we had been thinking of leaving it out, because it really is very far to the west. But it was worth the "detour".

We experiences a mixture of almost untouched hills, the so called Írseg, and a high concentration of really nice little towns.

... and tried to photograph some of the older buildings that you might still recognise such as the Church. The whole place really wasn't very big! One Church was dated from the 17th Century so we hope that is recognisable. Many of the buildings and houses seemed quite modern looking so we might have failed to find something you might find familiar.

We also drove through Furstenfeld (which I know you said was the big town near your village) and stopped quickly ...
