... modernised over time. The rest of Augsburg is lovely but very much the same as the other towns on the Romantic Road so we didn't stick around for too long. A highlight was a thai lunch, a refreshing change to tastebuds that had been used to pork, pork, pork and potatoes. Feeling in need of a little break from Romantic Road towns, we decided to have a day relaxing by the lake. In typical Andrew and Beatrice fashion, this turned into a 22km hike between 3 lakes. All day/25*C So, today was my first full day in Slovenia and it was jam-packed with activities. For dessert we went to a gelato place and I got ice cream and Josh got a berry ...

I started out at Ljubljana castle, which is the center piece of the city. Like many other times, I took the funicular up to the top where there were some great views of the city, and a somewhat hazy view of the Julian Alps in the north. The mountains kind of looked like ...

... as Nath hit the deck. I managed to flick the rear around and pull up about 10cm from the barrier standing over Nath. After a quick check to make sure he was ok (a support motor bike pulled up just after he fell) it was off again to chase down the rest of the group. I chased solo for about 5km and got to within about 50m but couldn't reel them in so sat up and waited for the next group to come through.

For the next 30km or so I rode in a succession of small bunches as ...
