... along the horizon.. a bit ominous. Anyway, I can't say much about the castle besides the views. It was more of a glorified courtyard and tourist center than an archeological sight. Maybe I'm just getting spoiled from the few great castles I've seen, but i wasn't very impressed by this one. I walked the southern pathway down to town where I could get back to the river and all the activity. Much of the day ...

We had decided when planning our holiday that as we had the time we would travel the more relaxed and scenic way by train rather than flying. We certainly made the right choice. We have a Eurail pass valid for 10 days of travel which did not need to be all in a row. We had paid to reserve seats as we and the travel agent were not sure how busy ...

... his name correctly. He did essentially the same as what Gaudi did in Barcelona. He was the architect that shaped Ljubljana. We take the furnicular up to the castle and climb to the top of the lookout. And we spend a lot of time in cafes. Just people watching. We go to the cathedral and get to see the intricately carved doors that tell the history of Slovenia and were commissioned for Pope John Paul's visit. (Even PJP makes an appearance on the door.) ...
