... American signs and objects. There was a table outside on the balcony, overlooking the beach and ocean, perfect!

We ordered some food and a very big jug of ale and cider to enjoy whilst lapping up the scenery. Not a bad afternoon at all! The wind started to pick up so we just went back to the motel after lunch to catch up on all our outstanding admin, research, expenses etc. Yep.. travelling is not all fun and games!!

... I turned my head as Clemente brought out a small black box beautifully wrapped with a yellow ribbon. He coached me on the correct way to position it and how to open it. I followed his instructions, opening the box to reveal a Wonka bar of chocolate. Puzzled and amused, I lifted the bar and followed further instructions to slide it out of the wrapper - gold paper wrapped a bar of chocolate. Open the gold paper, I am instructed. ... and the bottom of your feet get sore. Weird, but a lot of fun and something we will definitely do again. Then we walked to the end of Santa Monica Pier to Big Dean's to have a drink and a snack. Dave used to hang out there in the 'old' days(70's) when it was called Big Dean's Muscle In and 16 oz. beers were $.50!! Times have definitely changed but ...
