Snow!

... say that there was going to be three inches of snow today and I was not surprised after how cold it was yesterday. It was like Christmas from yester-year, since we don't get much snow in England these days.
Not much to say today really. My friend Destin came and got me in his truck and then we spent hours driving through the snow blizzard doing errands. I also took loads of photos of the snowy landscapes. Anyway, first we had to pick up his son down Spanish Fork way. Then we ...

... were a couple of people on the upper view point when we arrived but they continued to hike farther out on the rocks for better photograph angles. The weather continues to be perfect in the high 70s with bright blue skies reflecting off the red rocks.

When we arrived at Devils Garden campground the camp host was not there so we pulled through to look for a spot. Random Kindness Pays off

... day progressed, however, we found ourselves looking up into the horizon and seeing a black-blue wall of a Utah desert flash flood coming up on us rather quickly. We ran back to the cars amid the rain/hail which continued into the night, yet Apples, Andres, and Elisa managed to get a raging fire going, so we weren't entirely freezing until we got into the tents.
We'll save the rest for the next entry!

Danger and tough

the 75 miles from Provo to Price are very beautiful I would imagine on a nicer day with better road conditions. Hwy 6 is under construction most of the way. We got up early to try to aviod some of the traffic. That ment 5am breakfast and 6:15 on the road. Unlike Florida the wind is up early and we had to go through a canyon that has a wind farm in it and of course the ...

A new edition to the Shirley - Chavez family

A strange twist of events. While we were driving down the highway just outside of Helper Utah, we see a yorkie puppy run accross the high way and almost get ran over several times. Emmers, the big hearted woman that she is, immediately pulled over and checked on the dog. When she called for him he immediately came, and in a few seconds he was in the car with us and ...

Chinese mayhem

... It's not like we're fit enough to run up there. The hike up was bad enough, we were seriously thinking about quitting the 1 mile walk up. I guess sitting in a car all day doesn't help. However, we did not quit, and we were rewarded with a splendid view. It was awesome in real life I tell you. That trip up the mountain was not over because we were not walking anymore. Those calves hurt so badly the day after. That's when we went to Six Flags again (not ...

The Beginning

... ship or some cool story like that. I still have it.

18 years in Price is not really what would have chosen for myself. Price to me was ugly, small, close-minded, bland. It was liking eating the same thing for every meal, each day, each week, month, and year, for 18 years. Nothing new. Big trucks, coal mines, hunting, country music, Wal-mart....that's Price.

But where you are born is something you cannot choose. Well ...

... the sort of person the prisoner became was the result of an inner decision, and not the result of (camp) influences alone. Fundamentally, therefore, any man can , even undersuch circumstances, decide what shall become of him- mentally and spiritually. he may retain his human dignity even in a concentration camp. --Viktor E. Greetings from utah we were so thankful ...

... the elements. Wednesday - We drove out to hike at Fisher Towers. The place sounded neat but when we got there and noticed how cold it was and how far we would have to walk, we proudly got right back in the truck and went home. End of story. On Thursday we packed everything up and continued our trip west towards the other side of Utah where Zion and Bryce National Parks awaited our arrival. There is where I found my most favorite hike of them all. Exploring Mother Nature's wonders, Love Dave & Jenn
