Left Gavin's around 10.30am. So hard to leave. Gas in Minden. Spent hours in Historic Virginia City. Wish I could post pics on this iPhone cause words don't do it justice. Found a Best Western in Fernley and stayed there a night Bought another gps from Walmart as the other one wasn't recognizing towns. Long drive Wed morn 8 hours solid driving thru countryside that hardly changes Hope to stay in Salt Lake City tonight. Can someone please comment on this if they are getting ...

... soft in the noon day sun. When this happens the snow melts underneath the top layer of snow leaving what I call a land mine. When you step on these spots of snow you sink sometimes up to your hips. This is known as post-holing. This is very dangerous as you have no idea when it will happen nor what you will be stepping onto. Post holing on top of a boulder strewn mountain pass is an easy way to break an ankle.

... the season was more like a tiny stream, so the cascades were fairly non-existent. But we had some big giant rocks in our sights and decided to get to the top o them for some views.

This was an enjoyable and adventurous hike, scrambling up and up the steep rocks, climbing higher and neon rewarded with better and better views. We could see Lake Tahoe well below in the distance surrounded by green pines, and a view into the valley the other direction. We spotted ...

Greg and Mark where up early to go fishing on a charter boat (38ft) in Lake Tahoe. They came home with a few fish but nothing of any size. Greg said if was like catching garfish.

It was rather windy today too, so would have been a bit lumpy on the water.

I slept in after waking early and reading for a couple of hours. Sorted some more photos.
