... They are cut into dark chocolate brown stone up to about five feet in height. The lighter the newer the cuttings as we learned. Originally the area was a peninsula jutting out into a prehistoric lake dated back to about 12, 000 years ago. I got a few pictures which will appear on Flickr when I get them editted.


Before arriving in Fallon, we passed their Naval Air Station. There are three bomb ranges ...

I awoke this morning at 5am and looked out our room's window on the 18th floor to see beautiful white mountains. Took my shower got dressed and enjoyed a nice cup of hot coffee while waiting for Dave and Elisa to wake up.
Around 7:00am Dave and Elisa woke up and rolled out of bed about hour later. We all admired the morning view with all the snow on the mountains.
After we all were dressed we went to venture out to find a restaurant here ...

... aren't as interesting. This morning Aimee and I rented a jetski, and while I had some doubts, I am so glad I did it now. It was a ton of fun, and we got to see some great views of the lake and mountains. I was very happy today. And now we're in San Francisco in a hotel cleaning off 4 nights worth of camping. It is Saturday so we're going to attempt to stay awake tonight and go downtown. Hopefully I don't fall asleep in a bar.. We'll ...

... The boys had grilled cheese and tater tots (very american!) for dinner and watched movies while we went down to the resort restaurant for "date night". I had the most amazing dessert, a macadamia nut cookie baked and brought to the table in a skillet with icecream, cream and caramel sauce Mmmmmmmm. Gary had major food envy!

The intention for tomorrow is to head around the eastern side of the lake to Boreal, a small ski field near Truckee that has night skiing.

It is now a part of the Harvey West Unit of the Emerald Bay State Park. The house is open for tours in the summer months and the grounds and magnificent scenery may be enjoyed all year around by those wishing to visit this beautiful setting.
