On Tuesday 18th November we left our hostel in Point Loma and headed for Coronado Island. We were checking into another hostel in the downtown area that afternoon.
We drove across the Coronado Bridge and admired the beautiful views across San Diego Bay on route. Our first stop was Coronado Beach and the historic Hotel Del Coronado, also known as The Del. ... the day of the flight to book seats (apparently, you have to pay, now, to ensure your seating). The airline could do nothing for us, but Phil muddled some Spanish to a kind lady who allowed us to sit together, even taking my middle seat. Random acts of kindness...but she did get half of my vegetarian meals when I gave up explaining the seat change.
... coaster ride. Ah well all was not lost, we did have a great day. Lots of fun, and lots of photos.
For dinner we went to the Pub over the road, some cold drinks, shots and beer, and a pizza, great spot, friendly staff and not much to pay........We do like San Diego:)To night we are having a quiet night as tomorrow the long road trip to Phoenix ...
... Gaslamp Quarter. The buildings here are very cool, and a reminder if how new New Zealand is in comparison to the states. We also had our first trip to a supermarket today, and can understand why there is an obesity epidemic in the United States. -In a supermarket was around the same size as and average one in NZ- for Chch people, I reckon countdown bush inn.
