Our room in the hotel here is a really nice one, we have a bedroom, then off to the side of that a lounge area with a little kitchenette, not that we need it, buts handy to be spread out in our last two days so that we can pack up. Woken up this morning by a Cast Guard helicopter flying back and forth.....back and forth, they must have been looking for something or on a test drill. ... was with all the delicious home cooked carnitas, steak, chicken, and salsas and beans and rice. She knows how to do it best. We hung out at the beach for quite awhile, and then went to the church, where Ali and mom (thanks Sandy!) took me to shower at their hotel. Mmmmmm real towelsss! I then successfully got lost looking for an ATM on downtown San Diego but eventually made it back to the hotel in time to head out for dinner at Rock Bottom in La Jolla. ... rode back to Pacific beach and past the pier, checking out the bars along the way. Fish and chips for dinner at a rooftop bar. We stayed another night at the same car park with the nearby portaloo. Peeing on the concrete was also an option if we couldn't be bothered walking, but there was no escaping the splash back as we squat. The next morning we ran into Rob, the same bloke who gave us a lift to the fish n chip shop. I wasn't sure who the man was ...
After a morning of packing AGAIN a stroll along the beach , quick lunch we set off. A pleasant LONG drive to Las Vegas a few stops along the way for crazy sites and a 50s dinner. We then hit Vegas Daniel was soooo excited . We risked our lives and drive own the strip , roof down yer baby. ...
... on facebook just before the start of this trip so we were able to get together. We were pals and it is great to reconnect.
On Sunday we are going to a "Century Plant Party." Meg & Steve have a Century Plant in their yard that is about to bloom. It only blooms every hundred years, so it is a big deal. I can't wait to toast to its continued good health.
