        ... elephants that want to get to their food. Feeding them, you could really feel how strong these animals’ trunks are! They eat A LOT, buckets and buckets of water melons and pumpkins, and then some more bamboo. After that, we were led around the park, which was awesome because we were allowed to carefully touch the elephants and take pictures with them.         ... a minor issue getting into to the place. I wasn't sufficiently covered up. Apparently shorts that went below the knee weren't good enough. I had to rent some trousers to go over my shorts. I got really hot in them. We noticed that monks had their shins out! And they wore opened toed shoes!!!         A guest, appropriately in her most beautiful and dignified straight long-length traditional Thai dress, tells us the King was actually Princess Patty, Phatchara Kitiyapha, the only grand-daughter of King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit.
        In all the excitement, we never found the grannies and their congealed pork blood. But we did get stir-fried squid and chicken... and Chang at 60 a big bottle! Another day...

        ... the different ingredients used in Thai cooking and gave a bit of info on each. Then we were allowed 10 minutes to explore the market on our own. It was at this time that we realized we needed to pack up and move to Thailand permanently :) We just don't have these types of markets back in the States.         ... cringes when I bargain too low so I avoid his eye contact, at least during the process of haggling. We joined a few planned tours for the elephant park, a river cruise and a trip to the highest peak in Chiang Mai. Our least enjoyable one was the cruise on the Mae Ping River. There must be something in our make-up that does not enjoy cruises, whether in the oceans or the rivers.
