... nights after dinner. The guy played well known songs and we all sat around singing and laughing. We made lots of friends from all around the US, one couple are even sending Ricky some baseball cards!!! Hehe!! We would definately recommend cruising with Carnival cruise lines, we had the time of our lives!!! Still missing you all, Love Court and Rick
Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas rickandcourt... as I was used to clawing my way up the docks and then leaping down from the docks into the boat at low tide! This is waaaay easier. They had a nice set up with a pretty area for connecting to the internet and a very nice pool. There were four bathrooms with the showers included in the bathroom which was very nice - very private. I felt like I was re-entering civilization to some extent! Mangoes ...
MARSH HARBOR, Bahamas takinbetz... at the eastern end of the town due to the proximity of Spanish Wells. The anchorages were not close. There is a large ferry (like the Fast Cat in Key West) that goes between the islands and Nassau and a smaller ferry that stays pretty close to Spanish Wells going to Royal Island and Harbour Island. We dinghied ashore tying up to the concrete wall and had dinner at ...
SPANISH WELLS, Bahamas takinbetz... had about 2 kts flowing past us - our boarding ladder was almost straight out from the stern. It was tricky getting the lines off the dinghy because it was being pulled straight back! We made it, eventually, down to Serena to join Marilyn and John from "Blue Goose" (the brownie baker) and Paul and Liesel (we met them in Black Point) who had come into the anchorage from Staniel earlier in the day. We had a great evening of ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetz... and wind! As we changed our heading for Warderick Wells we were among about six other sailboats heading in the same direction on the Bank. Had our main sail up and were sailing a broad reach at about 6.5-7 kts (running engine at low RPMs). Everyone was heading for Warderick from the Bank and several more coming in the Sound - it looked like rush hour! We were given the same mooring as we had going down! We're not sure how long we're going to ...
WADERICK WELLS CAY, Bahamas takinbetzThis is a different Nassau - the Nassau of Starbucks, Winn Dixie, KFC, Dominos and Dairy Queen and cruisers passing through to the north or south. Conveniently located to the Nassau Harbor Marina is the shopping center - right across the street. You can get there lickity split or lickity splat depending on whether you remember to look in the correct direction to cross the street. The cars coming up the ...
Nassau, Bahamas takinbetz... the keel on the block which stands about 2' above the bottom. We dropped the ball and called our friends on Sea Mist that we would go to the anchorage around the corner in Fisher's Bay as it was too shallow here for our 5' draft and for them at 6' too. Fishers Bay proved a perfect place to stop. The moorings made us feel safe, they are owned by Dive Guana and so are probably checked fairly frequently, the cost is $15 a day. We ...
Great Guana Cay, Bahamas darborn... about religious stuff since we are both taking Islam and so that we could understand each other better since Rachel is Jewish and I am a Christian. Even though we believe different things, it was a refreshing conversation to be able to just learn and ask questions without either of us yelling or getting frustrated. I lose another hour of sleep tonight so I am now four hours ahead of yall in SC. Hope yall have a good and restful weekend!
Atlantic Ocean, Florida, Bahamas claudiv... fun. First of all, we had lunch at a restaurant right across the street from the Hilton Hotel in downtown Nassau, and then toured the downtown area. We finished the evening by going to the Hard Rock Cafe' and Senor Frogs. Both of these places prove for a good time in the evening. Senor Frogs is right on the water overlooking where the cruise ships dock.
Nassau, Bahamas jamesdalphonse... worth just laying on the beach all evening. i was offered drugs several times on the beach, my advice is to politly decline and go about your day. no need to cause a seen where one isnt needed. the Nassau Port Authority are very polite and somewhat efficent, you will get on your ship but you better bring patence. seeing as i was only in Nassau for one night thats about all i have to say, it was just a starting point for my travels and there is much much more to go.
