Narvik wydaje się wymarłym miastem. Ludzi było mało (gdzie się wszyscy pochowali?. Architekturą czy układem miejskim także nie zachwyca. Jedynie widok z tarasu widokowego, po wjechaniu na ponad 600 m kolejka w gore, robi wrażenie - i to chyba dlatego, ze widok jest w kierunku Lofotów :)

Another early start today as we headed off to Tysfjord, Norways narrowest point.

On the way we stopped at Svartisen Glacier, the second largest in Norway covering an impressive 370 square kilometres! We had a ferry ride of around 20 minutes and then a walk over some rocky terrain to the glacier itself, and it was certainly worth the effort. The glacier had a beautiful blue colour, and was really really big! We went right up to the glacier, and up close it ...

... tiden siden de hadde lyst til dette i fjor også, men de fant ingen. Jeg har nå funnet et prosjekt der vi kan jobbe med dyr. Jeg måtte presse ned prisen fra 695 UDS per person ned til 250 USD per person, ellers hadde vi ikke fått råd. jeg holder ennå på å forhandle litt med han jeg har kontakt med på prosjektet for kansje å få til en 3 dagers safari med i prisen, men jeg venter fortsatt på svar.

See previous entry. Train departed Narvik 1525 arrived Lulea 2240. Spoke to two Dutch girls at train station in Narvik. Ran into them several times along the way -- on the train, in Lulea, Haparanda, Tornio. By far the most unfriendly travelers I ve run into yet. Never a nod of recognition. Almost hostility. Don t know why. Curious. Never anything like it. Almost all others I ve met at least civil, most pleasant and frindly communicative.

Hiking to a look out point, we saw the city in a nice perspective. A town snug between sun lit ski slopes, forests, mountains, and sea. ... runs parallel to the railway line. Definitely a must, as you get to walk from the border through mountains, rivers and forest, all the way to the fjord in 3-4 hours.
