... balcony enjoying the breeze. Come the afternoon of course we are getting restless and decide to head out on to the beach for a splash and a saunter.

It still surprises us how such a lovely beach, so close to town is so quiet. If you take all the non Thais off the beach, there would be maybe 30 people on the whole thing. ... couple in 4,000 Islands in Laos. They have a house in Cha-am in which they stay for a few months each winter. We had swapped emails but last time we were in Cha-am they weren't. As soon as we saw it, David and Sassy said '’no way’’ but the further up we drove the more we could see that there wasn’t going to be another bridge so back we went, a Corolla crossed the bridge safely but we were in a 4-wheel drive with 5 adults and me! I am absolutely terrified of bridges as it is (the hospital did work out why but I have ...

An independant birding day - went to a great private garden where the owners have set up a hide on the edge of the woods, a couple of small pools and a hide so birders could watch what comes down - we were there at 6.30am, with just one other, a Thai photographer who was very helpful with some identifications and sent us some photos as Sandy's camera wouldn't work in the ...
