... we started our return trip with a visit to the Arashiyama bamboo forest, which was very pretty but (somewhat expectedly) full of tourists. We also tried some Sakura flavoured ice-cream – sounds nice but tasted awful!

Arashiyama also had a cool monkey park with Japanese Macaques – very cute. Refreshingly unusual in that the humans had to go into a cage to feed the monkeys, whilst the monkeys were free to roam as they pleased. Sat on a ...

... and some green tea, I started my dying. I was given a piece of fabric and shown different techniques to create different effects. After seeing the amazing dying shop in China, I knew that it wasn't as easy as you would think. Basically using Saran Wrap, marbles, and elastics, I attempted to create a design. There were only one size of elastics which made it touch as some smaller ones would have been nice. Nevertheless, once putting everything together, I ...

... Shinjuka to visit the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Number 1 Building. We took the lift to the 45th floor where there is a 360d degree viewing gallery so that we could look out over Tokyo. We had hoped to see Mount Fuji in the distance and although we could see the surrounding foothills its summit was hidden by a large black cloud. Very disappointing. Back at the hotel in the evening we packed as we leave for the airport at 7:30 tomorrow ...
