We left Porto Vecchio after breakfast and headed for the Rondinara Beach which we saw from our cruise. Very Windy that day so we did not stay long.
Next stop for lunch in a nice inn (auberge) in the hills between Sartene and Propriano. Nice food but too much smallgoods for Patrick...
Arrived in Ajaccio mid afternoon, went shopping, diner in …

In Cherbourg, Normandie, we walk about 45 min to get to the Marine Port where we see the next boat to Ireland is in 2 days(on monday that is) so we walk around looking for a place to stay for about 2 hours, finally we stay in the Napoleon Hotel right across from the town hall, not too expensive (altho it is the most we have had to pay yet).

... I am 1/2 hr (by plane) away from Tunisia. He was originally from Tunisia. He said--Maybe one day I will go back. Not sure he will though:) It;s so beautiful where he is.
After enjoying our first French crepe, we drove to our next stop Calvi....but before getting there we stopped a bit on our way to Corte (another city in the mountains) and then enjoyed some sun on the beautiful beach - Algajola. See next entries

... morning. yummy

Quick facts - Ajaccio is the capital of the French Mediterranean island of Corsica. It's is a beautiful small town (Population 65,500), with great people and history. For those who don't know, Napoleon Bonaparte was born in Ajaccio in 1769. There are quite a few statues of Napoleon throughout the city and... almost every hotel:).

that's it for the first 1/2 day in France, Corsica.

... in 1482 and the imposing citadel still guards the harbour. It was an easy walk into old Ajaccio with its tiny streets and main shopping area just off the port marina.

We headed out to explore the waterfront and shops before going back to the ship for lunch. We then made our way back to the beach area for our first swim in the Mediterranean.
