Djebel Alakhdar - Bab Doukkala Marrakech, Morocco
Confirming my ever-strong belief in fate and allworking out eventually, we ended up in Morocco right on time for the 2009 Marrakech Film Festival! As film fanatics, we hot-well, actually cold-footed it-from freezing cold Casa to Marrakech making it just in time for films galore...
Getting back to the Western world is weird after adventures in African countries like Mali and Senegal as it seems so different yet only a drive-or even briefer flight ...
Marrakech, Morocco antonkarinWe have been in Marrakech for three days now and I just finally made it into town because first I was sick then it was pouring down rain. What a drag. Anywho just thought I'd give a quick update since we aren't sure if we will have internet for the next couple weeks.
Thought I'd put in some general stuff

Marrakesh, Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Morocco cariverga... a pic and Ian did not want the snake around his neck. He was demanding that we go to the bank and get some money and being really nasty so in the end I just dumped the 2d in his had and grabbed Ian and walked off.
We ended up having a walk around and going to the restaurant that we had seen in the day it was an oasis of calm after the street sellers. Ian had tajine of lamb and I had chicken we both had 3 courses and it cost us about 13 pounds and the food was lovely.
Met a fine fellow from Wales as a hopped off the bus in Marrakech (from Essouria). He was looking for an economical riad to stay and I knew just the place - the riad I'd dumped my rugs at just days prior.
After settling in, I invited him to tag along w/ me to grab a geocache at Menara Gardens. LOL ...
... pools. Around the outside are ruins of the main rooms of the palace. Its known as Stork Palace, due to the great numbers of storks that have built their nests around the ruins... a tad surreal, but quirky. There was barely anyone here ...
Marrakech, Morocco sianeth... transforms at night. It does. You wouldn't believe how different it was. Where did all of this come from? There were so many places trying to get us to come in to eat. We picked a place and sat down. Let the feast begin. After perusing the options Steve ordered a ton of food. Here are a few things we had: maroc salad, olives, chicken and beef skewers, eggplant, peppers and fried potatoes ...
Marrakech, Morocco theskinners... away and take shots. Kat and Dave arrive after 12, after researching car hire. The plan is to drive around Morocco for 5 or so days. Why the hell not? So they drive on the wrong side of the road, with the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car, and it is Africa. Lets do it. We meet Mike and Linda at the Patisserie before wandering off to clinch the hire car deal. A hour or two is spent trying to find a place called El Farissa for lunch, before we ...
