... don't know mandarin or cantonese. However they are obsessed with westerners (Miranda kerr and Hugh Jackman ads everywhere) not to mention mtv on the tv yet the hotel staff and large department store staff didn't know basic english.

... hot here and humid. It was 93 at 8:00 in the evening so you can imagine the temperature during the day. By the time we got back to the hotel we were exhausted. We cooled off and then had a traditional Chinese meal of Subway. Very grateful for an ice cold Pepsi. I am missing cold drinks.... We are keeping our eye on typhoon Rammusan that is in the vicinity. We will be leaving before it hits Guangzhou but it could impact the next 2 days of our trip. Prayers ...
