... centuries when Nantes was the capital of the Dukes of Brittany. Given the souvenir shops selling all sorts of Breton goods it still seems to hold true that at least in spirit the city has links to the north west region of France that it once controlled.

The city is a big place, with around 280,000 people in the central area but around half a million living in the region and surrounding towns and villages. It is a ...

The station is about 12km from Malestroit and is on the main line between Vannes (population 50,000), Redon (population 10,000) and Nantes (population 280,000) a journey of, if you catch a fast train, about one hour and twenty minutes from Vannes to Nantes. Our first super long train ride of the trip. The ride from Paris to Nantes seemed to take more time than physically possible. Once in Nantes we had a layover before our next train ride and were able to explore a absolutely gorgeous park. You can look at the photos and let your imagination fill in the rest.
