    ... from where we've come! Soon, there was an announcement that we should all meet in the lounge at 3:45. It seems that the river is closed while they work on recovery of the downed ship. Who knows when it will open again. We could well miss our port arrival time as well as our flights to Shanghai! Not a good plan . . So we are heading back to another city, Jingzchou, and we will bus from there to the airport in Wuhan tomorrow ...

    ... are either "foggy or very foggy!"). Then - we walked down to a spot where we could see the dam - 1.4 miles long.

    And now we are back at the boat, trying to dry out and looking forward to relaxing on the boat for the rest of the day. We sure wish there was Internet on this boat . .have I mentioned that before?! :-). Many people are trying to get connected but no dice! One would think that the Chinese folks would ...

    ... on bamboo and paying absolutely no attention to all the folks staring at them? We also spent some time with a couple of rhinos - wallowing in the mud, a hippo, and a Yak! Funny - we saw lots of yaks in the wild as we bussed to the airport and then here was another one, in a pen at the local zoo! :-).

    So - we arrived at our ship, Viking Emerald. The water level is very low right now and the riverbed is nothing but mud! ...

    ... Our next door neighbours at the tables were a large family party, and the little girl, who must have been no more than six, was obviously fascinated by us. After taking some time to work up her courage, she came over to say hello. After some initial shyness, we were getting on like a house on fire!
