... you send an email on that day? Why did you wait five days?

She asked me why I wasn't in Jiaozuo yet. I told her I was coming back on the same day the other teachers were and she told me my start date was different.

Oh yeah? that's funny because I have proof that I emailed you back in JUNE asking when my start day was and you NEVER ANSWERED IT ALL SUMMER. Just shut up now, OK?

We have invited her to visit us in St. Louis; not sure if that can happen since it's difficult for Chinese to obtain visas to the U.S., but we'll see. But don't worry you all! ... journey – so in no time I suspect its transformation from derelict town to ghost town will be complete.

We had 2 stops along the way at 'Service Centres’ – one with dozens of toilets but no running water…lovely. Our bus driver wouldn’t leave the engine running so the bus was over 30 degrees by the time we got on the road again. The Chinese don’t use their car/bus/motorbike horns to ...

... As we watched him drive we realized that the lines on the road are more of an option and it isn't unexpected to have a car from the far right hand lane decide to turn left in front of you. We arrived in Yueyang, Mia's city, 2 hours later. Our hotel had a bit more flavor than were are used to and extremely authentic, complete with massage service 24hr/day. Somehow, I don't think it was the Swedish variety. Jim and I were the only white people in the hotel and the 4 of us ...
