... you aggressively like we do in NZ when we’re road raging. They use them in a more cautionary way, "I’m coming up behind you – make sure you don’t turn in to my lane". When you get used to it it’s still chaotic but at least the tooting has a sensible function! 06:45 wake up call again on the boat loud speaker system :( We had docked at Zigui. We had to leave the boat at 07:30 and took a squashed small bus with the other G group to Yichang. Here we spent the morning in a massive shopping mall, getting brunch and snacks before getting another more comfortable bus to the train station in Yichang. Here we took a fast train to Wuchang, where we had to leave the station and re-enter for the over night train ...

... br> Like the other two great towers of Jiangnan, Yueyang Tower is famous partly due to its literary associations, namely the piece Yueyang Lou Ji, loosely translated as Memorial to Yueyang Tower, written by renowned Song poet Fan Zhongyan at the invitation of his friend Teng Zijing, who in 1044 became local governor and rebuilt the tower, and subsequent play Yueyang Tower by one of the most renown Chinese dramatists Ma Zhiyuan in the Yuan Dynasty era.
