... we watched a man make a button, and one of the girls in the group got to keep it! Gutted. We wanted to keep it :( maybe next time... Then we went to the tile museum. Equally interesting. Then we went to the seal museum. Disappointingly not referring to the sea creature. I was also the only non-Chinese person in the whole town. Not a joke. I don't think many people can say that's happened in their lives. The weirdest thing is that everyone in the entire town bought ...

    The itch and the pill

... the room transforms into something livable, little relics of the past few days where unearthed. I even remove the 2 long dead Lilly that is propped into the old ceramic bottle of rice wine. Heaps of pollen fall of the wizen calyxes and onto my hands. A squirt of pledge and a wipe, smudge the orca pollen into the melamine surface. Dust devils waltz around the room and launch into the air with every sweep of the broom. The sheet we sleep ...

Getting back to Shanghai, we walked along Nanjing Road (a famous shopping mall) and picked up 6 mini dun-tarts (egg tarts) for 5RMB!, that’s less than $1AUD ($1 = 5.5RMB) along the way. Yummo! They were later, very much enjoyed with a much needed cuppa when we got ‘home’.

In all it was a very exhausting yet lovely day out for what actually started out as a very muddled up day!

... the problem is, I would like to have the matter resolved and put this behind me. Today my new employer phoned to let me know that the release letter had arrived but they could not use it as is was more like a warning for people not to employ me as I was tardy, boring and spoke funny. I never had any complaints or reprimands from the school, so you can imagine my surprise when the letter arrived. Not only was the trip to Yinchuan costly but it has also proved to be futile ...

    Catching a wild Tom Cruise

... we walked through some of the city and went into a museum with ancient artifacts and then a button museum. We even received free umbrellas because it had started to rain. Neither building was air conditioned- that was my main critique- more fans! Xitang is a huge button producer- out favorite examples of buttons made there were giant buttons that said "Mike" and "Steve". We saw the area where Tom Cruise filmed part of Mission Impossible 3, which led to us asking if ...
