... camps, these sites of horror show the human side of a historic event and the suffering that people endured. The centre of the city which was destroyed is now a peace park – very well done. We ended our week with a day in Tokyo and toured the centre by bus. A big thank-you to Helen C. for all her suggestions for a Japan trip.

... impassible and then old sheets and linens were added to the mess. I was walking down with another teacher and asked where they were all from. She scrunched up her face and said before the sex trade crackdown last spring, the upstairs was a foot massage/brothel and it was apparently being renovated. GROSS! and even worse was that a sign was put opened up on the heap of junk and people came, bought and hauled away all the chairs!!!

This was kind of an early morning we had to be up and out for the tour Billy booked at 9:30. We had a lovely breakfast in the hotel then meet up with our tour guide Jeanette. We went to various museums, parks and buildings. We had lunch at a cantonese restaurant and visited the markets. I played a sort of kick ups game with some locals in the park. This was a very long day which started quite late due to the previous late night at the casinos. Lots of new experiences this week with a number of celebrations. Monday was a holiday for many Chinese, but our school stayed open. It was the mid fall moon feast, celebrated by giving friends and relatives boxes of moon cakes - nasty things, according to my kids.
