... s explorations!-
finally some good weather hit Nanyue on Friday and Saturday and it was simply gorgeous! Eric, our friend Dani and I all went to do some exploring in town and the neighborhoods surrounding the school (i use neighborhood for lack of better terms ha but more like very spread out farming community?) are super cool! there are quite a few rice-terraced estates about that I hadn't explored before!
we also went on the hike to the Buddhist temple I see lit up ...

... cards to those who have been so kind and helpful to me here. so i indeed gave them each a card thanksgiving morning and had made them a taste of 'murica with the single-tiny PB packet mom sent (thanks mom!), some bananas and strange ass-bread like product they sell here! :) (all their damn bread is more like sponge cake than anything) ...honestly they were again moved but kinda ***** as i had made them promise to me no more gifts and none for thanksgiving! ..they said ...

... home i skipped out on lunch and had a VERY successful solo-trip to the underground mall to bargain a coat now that its turned winter! though china has surprised me on both its quality, yet less than dirt-cheap-India-like-prices; one can still get pretty cute and quality clothes here for cheap!
i actually ended up getting one decent kinda outdoorsy coat AND a nice hooded pea-coat for 300 Y (about $47)! t'ain't so bad i think! and then i successfully made it the train station ...

To give some perspective, most of these children do not leave the orphanage more than a couple of times a year, and sometimes not even their specific areas of the orphanage. So, our outing to the park was an extremely joyful and fascinating one to most of them. The pure joy and excitement to be in nature and new surroundings were awe-inspiring for me to witness. Their awe became my awe.
