      ... so it was nice to go inside each place to sit down in the aircon. The restaurants were all authentic family-run places, the oldest has been in business since 1901. We also learnt some history and wandered through a couple of markets, so it was a great introduction to HK.

      ... t enjoy the grid lock experience at all. Going across to Stanley Bay seemed to take forever, and we sat, then moved a few meters, sat some more, etc. Not fun, especially when you are in an open-top bus with all the fumes around.

      I saw lots of places that I will go back to and explore properly - this trip was about getting my bearings in anticipation of the next visit.

      ... Melbourne City Council need to number their streets correctly and Countrylink need to maintain their trains better, but, even those experiences were experiences to remember and talk about!

      A Very Big Thankyou to everyone who had been reading the blog- you are right, Margaret, I didn't always feel like doing it but felt more and more compelled as the time went on and it will be a great reminder for us. It's also been a great way of keeping in touch with people.

      ... bit was when I was walking along looking at all of these lovely birds (in my flipflops of course) I realised I was crunching under foot! When I looked down I was walking on live crickets - they were hopping around all over the place! I think I killed a few but jumped very smartly out of the way. A man with a big plastic bag was frantically trying to catch them and get them back in his bag....they had escaped and were the live bait for the birds! ...
