In the middle of the Indian Ocean
The Maldives consist of approx 1190 coral islands grouped in a double chain of 26 atolls. The average ground level is 4'11" above sea level with the highest point being 7'7" !!!! It is the lowest country on the planet!!! With rising seas it would be the first country to disappear. The only religion allowed is Islam. It became a republic in 1953....so much for this history and geography lesson......

Yesterday we all went out for a family picnic. We loaded up a flatbed with people, food, and swimming gear and headed out to an uninhabited island. Addu!
... at the airport and located me for him. We arrived in Addu (Ali's home Atoll). We landed at an old RAF base that is now an International Airport. The first International flight came in on Sunday. This is going to bring a lot more tourist into the atoll now. Ali's father showed me Madonna's plane that is parked at the airport. We came in around sunset so I got to see Addu during the daytime.
