... The buses we took last Friday to Mikolajki, and yesterday morning away from it were both 19 seater minibuses with minimal luggage space. The one on Friday was filled with passengers, with luggage all the way up the middle, and, for part of the journey, had 2 people standing. This one to Suwalki was a full sized coach, and we were the only 2 on it to start with, joined by 3 others for the second part of the journey!

... one taken in 1960 and the other in 2002. It's amazing and scary just how much smaller the dunes had gotten in that short timespan. The dunes move naturally between 5 and 10 metres a year. I climbed the boardwalk stairs to the top of the dunes and was rewarded with a fantastic view of Nida to the north, the lagoon to the east and to the south, across the dunes and through some forest lay the Russian province of Kaliningrad. ... them. For that night they hosted me and my friend, we had a lot of fun, seen a lot of things around Rome and ate (again ATE) a lot of good Italian stuff. Pasta, pizza, gelato, had awesome wine and more wine and even more wine and then party till the sun came up. So we slept maybe for 10 minutes and had to leave again. Always on foot, always happy, because you know something is waiting ahead.
