... we were now starving! We then set out for a quick walk around the main town and to stock up on more food (obviously!)

The next day arrived and with it finally a lie in! Unfortunately it brought the rain too! We headed out to conduct our own walking tour around the old town where we visited three churches and saw the town hall. ... 31 a night we have rented a very spacious 1 bedroom flat which although massive, has seen better days.
It is however directly on the main strip in new Kaunas.

Dropping our bags we head out for a stroll.
I'm already regretting not bringing more clothes and questioning my choice of location as there is not much here.
Not to mention the research we did the previous night advised that the main food was cold beet borscht accompanied with a hot, ...

... run down ones. You know a building is in need of restoration work when they have had to put up a wire mesh overhead to catch falling masonry! I took some photos of the restored sections of Kaunas castle before heading back to the hostel. I had the thought of flushing the contact lens out with eye drops. But again, to no avail. By now I was thinking that my previous assumption was wrong, and that the lens was never in there. I was nearly due to swap them for a new pair anyway ...
