Our road brought us to the Sinai peninsula, a place renowned for its beautiful vistas. Big desert plains intermixed with rocky hills and mountains breaking up the view. Moving closer to the coast the scenery changed. We moved down canyons, with sharp red rocks towering up around us. Even for those us having seen the Grand Canyon and many other famous rocks, it was an impressive sight.

The minibus journey from Adana to Antakya was cramped but fortunately not long. In this part of turkey very few people seemed to speak English which made it difficult to find the bus find the bus to Aleppo. Eventually I found a travel agency whose manager spoke English only to find out that 'I'd missed the only bus but fortunately a taxi was only marginally more expensive.
