... oldest amphitheater in the world. Before all the ones we have seen so far! We also saw the minotaurs labyrinth. We never knew that the maze actually was the palace. It was a complicated layout! We then went up the mountain to see Zeus birthplace. It is a cave in the mountains. It represents his mother (rheas) womb apparently. The kids thought it was pretty cool. She glossed over a lot of the dates and figures and just ...

Fourth of July In Crete with no fire works :( Today we drove from Chania to Heraklion to our new hotel. The drive took two hour through some beautiful country side that reminded us of California, but without all of the people. Once we got into Heraklion we saw a man pull off a no sign and start yelling at another man in Greek (referendum vote is tomorrow). Other than that, we have seen very little of the referendum besides signs ...

Last night we had some fun swimming in the pool - Kelly tried to teach chris to float without much success. Over our time on Crete we've met a bunch of people from the Netherlands. The owners of the hotel we're staying at are Dutch, so we think that might be why there are so many Dutch people here. So we've been talking to them about Dutch food and they keep encouraging us to order the croquettes at the hotel, which is a Dutch snack that ...
