Saturday 6th Sept: A 2-hour drive east of Budapest took us to Hortobagy where we met up with Ildiko who started doing volunteer work at the Hortobagy National Park a few days ago. We were given a 'safari' by Attila who expalined about Hungary's Przewalski wild horses and cattle ...

... pension is. We follow him very gratefully to the Pension Fontana, a simple but clean 'pensuela' which serves us a very adequate Italian sups. It's in the old part of the town which consists of one main square and a few churches with other buildings around it. We had dinner back at Eva's house and then drive to Debrecen, which is closer to Budapest than ...

... the nearby town and thermal baths. Busy town full of bathers - it was speedo central Sunday! Flea markets - Durban style minus the curried pineapples :-( we bought our first magnets and bracelets. Beautifully carved wooden church - even the nails where made of wood, and an ornate alter. Bought homemade palinka in a coke bottle from a granny with no teeth. Should ...

    ... I wouldn't want to walk underneath!

Arrived at the campsite around 4.30pm, and it's got a pool!!! And thermal pool, so as soon as we'd set up camp (which is becoming a slick procedure) (You watch, it'll all go pear shaped tomorrow) we went and wallowed! And now we're going to have a drink & some curry. Yumm.

Oh, nearly forgot, tomorrow's destination is Dracula country, Brasov in Transalvania, appparantly about 296 miles, so an early start and go go go!
