Friday afternoon I left for Auckland. I had a 8 hour flight to Dubai, and when I got there it was night time - disappointing, because I had thought I was going to be able to see some of the city. We rounded off the day with dinner in a (different) food court before returning to the hotel for an early night. It’s been a flying visit to Auckland but great to catch up with Mark and Stella who were very generous and attentive hosts/tour guides! We will be returning on the 5th for a few more days before we fly to Chile

Today was spent touring Auckland mainly on the hop on hop off bus! We climbed to the top of mount Eden , the second highest point in the city and is an old volcano which you can walk around the crater rim. Talking of Eden, we also saw 'Eden Park' home to the 'All Blacks' a pretty impressive 60,000 seater stadium having hosted a number of Lion tours as well as 2 world cups - ...
