... mugging me, but it didn't happen. So, the day was starting out well. The sun was back out, and so was the humidity. Nevertheless, I had nothing to complain about, and while Stephen Marley was playing rhythms in my ear, I was all smiles. By the time we arrived in Victoria, it was only a little after 8:00 a.m. I started walking down the busy sidewalks with my bags, looking like a lost fool. I walked for a long time, and eventually met a guy in the ...
Mahe Island, Seychelles Islands excope... minutes or so, he invited me to spend Sunday afternoon with him and his family. He said they'd barbeque and we would drink beers. He gave me his phone number, and then brought me back to the guesthouse. Unfortunately, when I went to purchase a Sim Card at each of the two nearby markets, neither had one, and there was no phone to use at the Bacova. So, I decided to just relax for the rest of the night. Another great day on Mahe.

Mahe Island, Seychelles Islands yvettekelly... car I had previously rented is waiting for us in the parking lot. Even better, Neal was able to arrange the rental of a local home for our last night in the Seychelles. As we say goodbye to Monkey Puzzle, we know that we still have one more day to explore the Seychelles and that we did with lunch at the ...
Victoria, Mahe Island, Seychelles Islands gmanvento... The coral heads are some of the best I’ve seen on the trip, making for a fine snorkel.

Once back on the boat, we half-heartedly attempt to set a stern anchor so that we’d have our bow set into the waves which caused a substantial amount of roll our first night. Sainte Anne Island, Seychelles Islands gmanvento... tips.

After lunch, we continue on, sailing to our night stop at Port Launay. We get the anchor in just to port of the cross marketing the reef on the western side of the bay and jump in for an evening snorkel. This time we snorkeled all the way to the beach, then back along the cliffs on the eastern side of the bay. The light was pretty low, but, we ...
Port Glaud, Seychelles Islands gmanvento... a small bonito caught again by Lisa. As we round the northern point of Mahe’, the wind begins to build to 30k (katabolic effect off the high mounts) coming almost due south right on our nose. With that in mind, we started provisioning discussions with miles who we latter dubbed "my friend" due to his negotiation technique. In addition to Lisa’s request for sweet mangos and other vegetables, we requested octopus and whatever fish he was able to find and gave him our ice bag for a refill. He negotiated an up-front euro “ ...
Praslin Island, Seychelles Islands gmanvento... a large group of italians staying there. We found this odd until we realized that the entire Seychelles islands were fully booked by Italians! It felt like we were in Capri! La cuvette is not really near any beaches but that suited us fine. Every morning we would run the 6 km in the sweltering heat to Anse Lazio or Georgette. At the end of the road there was "heart attack hill" followed by a 30 minute trail to Anse Lazio or a 1 hour trail to Anse Georgette. There are ...
La Digue, Seychelles Islands cerimattrtw2006I decided to take a small detour on my way to London and stop in the Seychelles for a few days. The plane ride was a bit tedious but luckily I was able to block out the problem with movie I blasted in my ears which took up almost the whole plane ride. The whole plane (and it was a 747 but not all 400 seats were full) seemed to be all honeymooners and couples. All except for this one family of five which consisted of two oblivious parents with three ...
