We left early to go to Mechelen. We left early so as to take the advantage of a tide on a tidal river. BUT, the journey included the dreaded N13 BRIDGE. Bargers, boaties etc who know the waterways of Belgium will know what I mean here. The journey was really uneventful and very scenic. Brussels was all about grand architecture.....and waffles. You can get these amazing freshly made waffles everywhere. And chocolates....wow. I had told Ashley that Brussels had waffles and beer so in the space of 2 hours we had eaten a plate of waffles, been to the beer museum and the chocolate museuem (with tastings) and bought, and eaten Belgium chocolates. A highly successful trip.

We collected out luggage and headed to the train for Lille.

The other cool part about Chez Leon is its "Golden Book", which is essentially a guestbook signed by all of the famous people who have visited the restaurant. Among these celebrities are Jimmy Carter and members of the Belgian Royal Family. Pretty cool, huh? My butt might have actually occupied the same space as someone famous!

Of course, we didn't spend the past two days at Chez Leon, we ...

The NH hotel is very nice so far, but I don't know if I can get up again!!! Going for bath now!  In the lobby waiting for Maya and Morry. Free wifi! The amount of electronics we now carry is incredible! I'll post photos later. For now, here's the ...
