      We left early to go to Mechelen. We left early so as to take the advantage of a tide on a tidal river. BUT, the journey included the dreaded N13 BRIDGE.       ... mannequin pis - apparently he has over 700 costumes! We went back to the hostel for a bit of a chill and to drop our day bags off. Then we headed out for a cheap and cheerful Chinese!       ... a ye olde game of handball (I'll get the proper name of the sport from him later). In the evening we went to a small local pub and watched the Olympics with a bunch of Poms. It was good viewing, the gymnastics was on which is always fun to watch!

      ... At the end of the park is the Palais Royal, the official home of the Belgian monarch. It’s got a nice-lookin’ front, but looks a little government-building-ish. We couldn’t go in because it’s only open a whole 6 weeks out of the year.

      ... some exceptions in the woods) and the wind was not too bad.  Our bikes are city bikes with fenders and upright handlebars. They are easy to ride, although Maya feels hers is too big. The NH hotel is very nice so far, but I don't know if I can get up again!!! Going for bath now!  In the lobby waiting for Maya and Morry. Free wifi!
