... to head to the more established Cayo Coco and checked into a resort there. No casas in this area. The resort is really really nice and Alex did well again inquiring about the cheapest room and then asking for an upgrade. Well we got a room with a lagoon view which is pretty cool (at the last place she arranged an upgrade from a standard to a junior suite). ... tasteful and some of it garish (given that i don’t like the riot of colour in Parc Guell!). Many of the individual tiles that made up complex pieces of art work were stunningly beautiful, and such a range of styles. I particularly liked the mosaic murals of Grandma, the ship that carried Fidel, Cienfuegos, and Che back to Cuba, and the one of the great friend of Cuba, Chavez. ... all the locals... at half the price of the bus. The more helpful lady at the ticket office, not located in the station of course, told me we'd need to get to Havana Central one hour before departure time in order that we would be confirmed. I quipped, "No somos religiosos!" (We are not religious), or at least I did in my head...

In terms of food Havana has a lot to offer. You can get some more fancy meals for $5-$15 dollars a head or you can go to a local fast food place and get a pizza for $0.40.
