Although we dreamt and planned a lot for this journey, we never thought about the last part.
Waiting between our last two planes, we still have one question:How do you end such an overwhelming adventure before getting back to the real world of bills, plumbing problems and work but also friends, family, weekends and summerbars? I guess by putting the best pics on your screensaver and planning the next one :-)?.
... hitting the tourists. We arrive at our hotel and our adorable porter, Marco, checks us in and shows us how to work the actual turn of the century lift...up to our room. We snack on gorgeous cheese and prosciutto Cliffy and Sandy have gracious provided for us...then we are off to see the city. What a city it is! ... had been shared with all the passengers. Just starting to settle and yes, yet another call for a medical person, poor Anthea leaves her seat to attend, but not reqired again. Mac is not sure if it is he that brings this on as it is only with him it appears to happen. But on the other hand Anthea is always the first up.
We finally sleep and knowing we will be awake again soon for our transit in to ...
... continuous food and drink!! After 2hours we managed to get through passports and immigration and then z taxi to our rather seedy hotel!! Has seen better days and the area is not wonderful, but it will do! Now, to us, it is 1.45a.m. and so we are going to have a cuppa and sleep. Tomorrow is another day.
... it. We settled for a couple of sandwiches at a French style bakery café (I did love the pretzel sandwich...Steve said a Subway salami sandwich is better than what he had). After that, with our energy boosted, we treked back to our hotel. The room was ready and we both laid down and immediately passed out for about 4 hours! When we got up, we decided to have dinner but stay close if we could. We were both sooooo tired! ...
