Made another friend.
Was taking photos on the streets near the Christmas Markets when I was approached by another photographer, asking me whether I am using the X-E1. We chatted for sometime and turns out he's a pro with a history of M6s and was carrying 2 XPro1s with different lenses. He gave me some tips on where best to shoot the night markets. Lucky, really, as It turned out where I was was t the main Xmas markets at all. The night would have been very different I didn't have my X-E1 with ...
SNOW & CURRYWURST!!!!
It's snowing!!
As in snow flakes are landing on my head and face type snowing.
This is sooo cool!!!!
Once i realised whats happening I started chasing around hoping to catch the flakes.
After a way turning around in circles it dawned on me how stupid I must be looking.
So i moved into a park to catch snow flakes.
Unfortunately, it's easy because it's very light, very much like trying to catch a flower petal.
Still, it was a lot of ...
Dead body.
... chat with the cleaner, Craig. Turns out the guy was walking down the street and got hit by a drunk truck driver.
Sigh.
Anyway, I told Craig I am from Sydney looking forward to seeing the snow and it turns out he worked in a Wooloomoolloo hostel for months! So now we are going to a pub crawl on Thurs night.

Flying NRT-FRA on Lufthansa Airbus 380
... The first blind dims the sunlight whereas the second one creates a black-out. The sun has been pouring in my side of the plane since we are flying westbound in the middle of the day. Right now I have two of my windows blacked out and the third one about 95% blacked out, just allowing a sliver of sunlight to come in the bottom. Unfortunately there hasn’t been a lot of see out the windows today since it’s been extremely cloudy below us during most of the flight, blocking ...
Aurbach and Alsbach Castles
... br> Schloss Aurbach was built as a stronghold for securing the possessions of the Southern Katzenelnbogen dynasty, including the duties (tolls) collected from travelers using the well-known North-South trading route along the Roman 'mountain road' (Bergstrasse in German). The first mention of the town of Aurbach was in 784 A.D. Experts think that construction of the current castle began around 1222 by order of earl Diether IV von ...

Historical Traveler Reviews NH Frankfurt City
Good hotel
This is an ideal hotel for business or a city break. The shops are just minutes away by foot and the traditional german restaurants in the square are nearby too.
room was quiet comfortable and clean - got the best nights sleep ever!
Reception and waiting staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast is great with loads of choice and a spacious room.
Excellent hotel all around
This is a wonderful hotel in a perfect location. The front desk staff were efficient and pleasant and the lobby area modern and comfortable.
The rooms were quite attractive with high quality finishings and very solid wood doors. Beds were very comfortable with feather/down duvets and pillows. I particularly appreciated a second door that separated the bathroom/entry area from the sleeping area. This greatly reduces any noise you might hear from the hallway. As a result, the rooms are exceptionally quiet at night -- wonderful! Two things that are missing from the rooms are an alarm clock and coffee maker.
The hotel is conveniently located near the Zeil shopping street and there are many very good restaurants in the area (Japanese, Thai, Italian traditional, etc).
We booked three nights via the NH Hotel website at a rate of 71 euro per night which we considered to be an excellent deal. Breakfast was not included at this price. We would recommend going to the top floor of the Karstadt department store for their breakfast or lunch buffet. It is a nice buffet style restaurant!
Fab hotel
Couldn't fault this hotel for the price. Excellent location, amenities and service.
Excellent hotel
Spent 2 nights in the NH City hotel in Frankfurt over New Year 2005, and found it to be an excellent hotel. We got a ridiculously-low rate on Expedia (something like £35 per night for the room) and were very impressed. The hotel is a 2 or 3 minute walk from the Konstablawache S-bahn & U-Bahn stop and the main shopping street (Zeil). It is very modern and clean, and all the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are reasonable sized and include satellite TV, minibar, desk area with internet connection - and all the standard stuff expected from a business hotel.
I am a member of Lufthansa's air miles scheme, and with that I got extended check-out, so it could be worth enrolling in the scheme for free if this could be of use.
All in all we were very impressed, and would not have been disappointed if we had paid a lot more for the hotel. I'll definately consider NH hotels in other cities, and would stay at the NH City Frankfurt again.
Fab hotel...great value
Just returned from a lovely shopping weekend in Frankfurt and had the pleasure of staying at this hotel. It was fabulous value. There is not one thing I can find fault with this hotel. It was ideal for shopping, it being only a short walk from the main shopping area. It was also spotless clean. The staff were both friendly and helpful. We used the sauna and steam room after a serious day shopping and it was glorious!
Excellent Hotel...Great Location
Stayed at the NH Frankfurt City Hotel Sept. 30 -Oct. 3 2005 and really enjoyed our stay. We are Americans living and working in Saudi Arabia. Frankfurt is a stop over point for us. So, we decided to spend some time there and were really glad we did. Hotel is 2 blocks from the nearest train/subway stop. The rooms were very nice and the beds were wonderful w/down pillows and comforter. The bathroom was big and the shower was hot with great water pressure. Hotel was quiet as a mouse every night. We slept like babies. Breakfast buffet had much variety (scrambled eggs, bacon, crepes, cereals, etc.) Hotel staff very polite and helpful.
Mass transit very easy to use (Even for Americans who aren't from New York!) This train/Subway point is also the beginning of the pedestrian streets that take you through Frankfurt's shopping district on foot. Lots of street vendors serving every king of food. Enjoyed delicious pork, suasages, sauerkrawt, potatoes, etc. Wonderful!! The Dom Romer is a 15 min walk or a 2 min train ride from hotel. The weather was cool and only one day we had rain. But rain doesn't stop anyone in Frankfurt! We will definetly stay at the NH again soon!
Loved this hotel
This hotel was perfect and in a perfect location. It is within walking distance of the shopping district. We stayed over one night and wished we would have stayed longer. It was in a perfect location and the parking garage across the street was inexpensive for one over night on the week-end. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was worth the price. The room and bathroon were large enough for 2 people. The pillows were firm and the bed had feather covers rather than a blanket. This hotel is excellent and would recommend it to anyone staying in Frankfurt.
Terrific Hotel
This hotel is convient, spotless, great "Zen" like decor, Good staff and excellent food. We were booked in to this hotel by Granc Circle tours and it was terrific.
Shoppers' weekend
My daughters and I booked a weekend in NH Frankfurt hotel for a serious Christmas shopping expedition direct from IRELAND. We arrived very early at the hotel, and were welcomed warmly, our luggage was stored until we returned from our initial shopping. The hotel is only "a stones throw" from the main shopping area.
The room was excellent. we were three adults so it was important that our room be spacious and it was. The breakfast was a bit expensive @ 16 euros per person. The room rate was very good value. It was very very clean and hygenic and was very comfortable. The staff were excellent. In fact we are returning next year again to repeat the whole experience.
