(In the village of Olite there was also a first communion celebration going on, in Spain the young girls wear full white dresses just like in the US, but they also have this grandiose celebration with all of the first communicants and their families. They rented out part of the parador hotel for this.)

... Look! A big rock! ( We are in country Spain! ) A lot of fun though... Especially when someone yells 'Duck.' (No..... there are not lots of ducks in this area of Spain.... But haven't got to Madrid yet... There may be ducks there.) They yell 'Duck' so they can take a photo out the window. However there are bulls. See attached photo. Story goes that these huge black billboards used to be emblazoned with the name of a Spanish Sherry. ...

... packed away, and with the wind still raging, we decided we may as well head back homeward - there was nothing much here we could enjoy in a gale. It was going to be difficult to fold the awning away but there was nothing else for it!

... and then went for a walk around the streets. Nothing much was open, sadly. Then back to the van to prepare corned beef hash for tea.



Settled down to watch a Gwyneth Paltrow film on the mobile DVD player after reading books and a few puzzles. As usual it went on strike half way through the film - must remember to charge the battery tomorrow! It'll be an early night again then. . .

Contrary to the impression that one might get from the movies, castles were typically not very nice places to live in. Some rooms had fireplaces and those donīt do a very good job of heating a modern room with eight foot ceilings and R-12 insulation in the walls.
