      I am a man who likes a plan, so to find myself in Chile (not on my original itinerary) feels both naughty and liberating. Being just across the Andes from Mendoza, it seemed a shame not to visit Santiago, and also means my onward journey will take me north towards the geysers and volcanoes of the Atacama desert.
