          I really enjoyed the last few days in Barcelona - said goodbye to me regular bar staff - lots of nice friendly people. I took the metro to further places and walked the entire Barcelona beach front. I had not selpt very well on the last night (my birthday) - I had a big meat dinner and red wine in a nice restaurant in the gothic quarter.

          Getting into difficulties with time and time zones. Discovered this morning when my alarm went off that the iPhone doesn't automatically get the right time in Chile. Here, this year, they are not changing to standard time, but will continue on daylight saving summer time for the whole year and Apple(?) hasn't realised. Anyway I did notice in time because my watch told the correct time, but breakfast had to be very quick! ...

          ... and are now set for 2 days at sea. Chile is a long narrow country and stretches about 4,000 miles from the North to the South. We will travel around 2,000 miles along Chile's coast. The current leg is approximately 1,000 miles. A large part of the trip will be in protected waters between the mainland and a continuous string of islands along the coast.
