... there were 14 chapels built and was used as a place of worship. The whole arena was covered in white marble but when it was hit by a series of earthquakes which is how half of it has fallen, Vatican City removed the marble for use there. Pretty cool history. ... was open at the top and was full of soft muted colours and more graceful lines. Taking an elevator to the roof we were met with stunning views of the city and, of course, Gaudi's fanciful chimneys! There were tiled swirl-shaped chimneys and groupings of tall mushroom-shaped chimneys with quirky mouths for the smoke. From there we entered the attic which showcases the 265 brick arches that support the roof, and finally we viewed one of the apartments in the building as ...

... the corner from her house. After resting a little and getting the kids rested, we headed out and caught a bus to La Rambla.

Now Aunty Hazel is very fond of the buses. It has been her primary mode of transport for years and she knows the Barcelona bus routes inside out. Everyone in our family who has visited Aunty Hazel comes back with stories of how she showed them around the city exclusively via public transportation buses, hopping ...
