    Overnight for Rome Escape

    Reviewed Nov 7, 2012
by (2 reviews) , France Flag of France

Stayed overnight in preparation for trip to Rome. Hotel was a great location to enable relaxed access to flight - 5 minute walk to all check-ins. Hotel staff very competent and pleasant, providing all the assistance we required, including details of long-term and short term parking possibilities.

Dinner at night was enjoyable and of good quality for hotel food. Did not stay for breakfast. Lounge area was un-rushed, providing good location for evening drinks.

Room was of good size, clean and well presented.

Brian and I arrived in Lyon, France on Sunday. We had some minor hiccups but overall the trip went well. We stayed at the airport hotel since Thompson Bike Tours will pick us up in the morning.

Initially Brian and I were going to head to the city of Lyon but were changed our minds and hung around the hotel. Brian's bike missed the Munich …

... all creat a city that needs more than 3 days to discover.

The view from our apartment is of the roof tops over the Old Town - terracotta tiles, turrets, unexpected door ways, chimneys - all add to the ambiance. See the photo attached.

tomorrow we are off to Rome airport and then its port where we will spend one night before embarking upon our 10 night cruise. so a new adventure awaits.
    till then,

Such a lovely morning that we delay setting off and have a potter around Besancon. It is a really charming town and we will definitely come back again. We do discuss idea of staying for a week now but in the end decide to continue south to be sure of hotter weather. South to Lyon, another Mercure chain ...

Life has become quite normal. It's all starting to settle down and become peaceful. And when bad things happen, I kind of just deal with it rather than freaking out. I feel more stable and it feels like ordinary life. And I don't hate it. I mean, I also don't love it. But it's not the worst. I suppose also, the end is quite close, I can see it and I can sense the freedom and the excitement. Like I've always felt about Lyon, I kind of can't wait to leave. Anyway. ...

Sorry it's been so long since the last time I wrote. I kept meaning to write, I certainly had time to write, but for some reason I just didn't. I blame winter and the coldness, it brings with it a lack of motivation and energy. At the moment I'm sick again too, gahhhh. But it dawned on me today that, normally, every winter, I get a flu vaccination from work, and I'm sure this has been the case since I started at the tax office and then continued when I worked for justice. ...
